Kivalliq News is a bilingual Inuktitut and English newspaper serving communities in the Kivalliq region (Central Arctic).

The majority of the population in the Kivalliq region is Inuit. Many elders speak only Inuktitut and read only syllabics. Younger people generally are bi-lingual in Inuktitut and English, but Inuktitut will be a working language of the new territory of Nunavut and will continue to flourish. News copy and all advertising in Kivalliq News is published in both languages.

The Kivalliq News is based in Rankin the largest, most central community of the Kivalliq Region. The region's population is small and close-knit so the Kivalliq News is able to treat the entire region as a single community. The editorial focus is on community, regional and Nunavut territory issues, hard hitting news reporting, excellent photography and feature coverage, investigative reports and constructive editorials.
