AGM for Deline Land Corp.

Deline/Fort Franklin

The Deline Land Corporation will hold its annual generation meeting at the Jerry Vital Memorial Arena on Dec. 2.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the meeting will cover a variety of corporation issues including a review of the auditor's report for the last fiscal year and a review of the corporations' current ongoing activities.

Iqaluit to host G7 finance ministers

Iqaluit

Iqaluit will host the G7 finance ministers meeting in February, marking the first time a G7 meeting will be held in Canada's Arctic.

Announced Wednesday by Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, alongside Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq, MP for Nunavut, the meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5 and 6 and will be the first of three important finance meetings to be held in Canada in 2010.

The G8 and G20 leaders' summits will be held in June.

The meeting will include discussion on how to strengthen the global economy and how to improve international financial institutions.

G7 members include Canada, the United States, Britain, France and Germany, Italy and Japan.

Chamber of Mines names new executive

Somba K'e/Yellowknife

The NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines chose its 2009-2010 executive at its annual general meeting last Wednesday in Yellowknife.

John Kearney, chairman and president of Canadian Zinc Corporation, was named president for the upcoming year. Hugh Wilson, vice president of environment and community affairs for Tyhee Development Corporation, was named vice president for the NWT region of the chamber, while Shear Minerals president Pamela Strand was named vice president for Nunavut. Cathie Bolstad, director of external and corporate affairs for De Beers Canada, was named secretary/treasurer.
