Staying put

CD Plus will remain in its not-so-temporary location for the time being, according to its general manager.

Aaron Hernandez said the store will stay indefinitely in its current spot, a glassed-in location beside the Centre Square Mall elevator across from Yk Dollar Store.

In September the store moved there from across the Bank of Montreal while the location underwent renovations.

But the corporate head office of CD Plus has yet to make a decision on whether the change will be permanent, said Hernandez, who's happy to stay where he is.

Clearer picture for Lepage

Progress on Pierre Lepage's new restaurant and market on the corner of Old Airport Road and Range Lake Road is going slower than he'd hope, he said.

But now Lepage has a clearer, if tentative opening date in mind for both new places. He said he hopes to have Nico's Market ready by Easter and the new L'Heritage ready shortly thereafter, he said.

Wood stove sales up

Sales of wood stoves have gone up a little recently at Fitzgerald Carpeting.

Employee Mary-Ellen Savard couldn't put her finger on why precisely, but she had one idea.

"It could be the rising cost of fuel," she said.

Glass wall almost done

A new glass wall separating Yk Inn from the Centre Square Mall recently went up. It's part of the hotel's ongoing makeover and one of the final touches, said Thomas Jarvis, sales manager for the downtown hotel.

There's just one glitch, he said. The door is supposed to be for hotel guests via keycard only, but so far the cards aren't working. Electricians are working on the problem.

"We've had some people walking through anyway, but that's expected," he said.
