I certainly don't believe that outfitters should be subsidized
Hi, I was looking on your website and I read the editorials you didn't write! The one that struck me was the subsidy or cash cow editorial. I know that hunting outfitters are well established up here in the north and that it is considered a legitimate business to encourage wealthy outsiders to come here to hunt for game. I personally am against this as I believe it undermines the value that exists in living in a way that respects our environment and cherishing the natural heritage. I am not against hunting and trapping to support a way of life that is sustainable and values the resources of this country but I am against anybody who trophy hunts or makes a profit out of people who trophy hunt. And I certainly don't believe that outfitters should be subsidized because caribou quotas have been cut. If they had the sense they were born with they would diversify and offer the sort of services that promote a more sustainable tourism industry that countless city folk really want i.e. Wildlife and nature excursions, authentic wilderness treks and canoe rides, and if people want the thrill of a chase why not offer wildlife hunts with rifles that take pictures of where you would have shot the animal if you had a rifle. I personally enjoy archery as a sport and i don't need to shoot an animal to know if I am a good shot or not. signed  Daniel Gilbert
