Is it reasonable to fault an employer for animal attacks?
Last week, Crown prosecutors in the
Yukon stayed charges against Yellowknife based
company Aurora Geosciences, which
was charged by the Workers' Compensation
Board for failing to adequately train an
employee killed by a bear while doing fieldwork.
The case was thrown out after new
– still undisclosed – information was brought
forward. Should companies be held responsible
when employees working outdoors are
attacked by wild animals?
