Safe sex workshop useful?
The Centre for Northern Families hosted a
safe sex empowerment workshop for youth on
June 28. About 15 people, ranging in age from
their mid-teens to their mid-20s attended.
They were able to ask sexual questions of a
public health nurse, talk about homosexuality,
and make dental dams and wooden dildos.
Seeing as the NWT has higher rates
of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted
infections than Canada's provinces, are such
workshops welcome, or should sex education
come from parents?
