Have prospectors been shafted?
The Grubstake program for independent
prospectors has had its budget slashed to
$50,000 yearly from $150,000. One of the
prospectors affected said it’s a shame that
the GNWT is turning its back on the history
of NWT mining, which has relied greatly on
those who venture out to find metals and minerals
on their own. Do you agree that the cut
is a mistake, or is it a sign of the times?
