Inuvik man charged after cocaine, cash - and bear spray seized, say RCMP

One man is in custody facing charges after Inuvik RCMP say a search warrant at a home in the community turned up cocaine, cash and bear spray.

Mounties executed a search warrant at a residence in the community on Jan 19, allegedly finding crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, bear spray, and over $7,500 in cash.

Inuvik RCMP display cash - more than $7,000 - they say was recovered following a search warrant in the community. Drugs and bear spray were also found, say police. RCMP photo.

Bear spray is a powerful, pepper spray-like weapon used to deter bears or other wild animals.

Mounties arrested David Hevia, 27, of Inuvik.

Hevia is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a weapon contrary to a court order and failing to comply with probation.

He is due to appear in Yellowknife court on Wednesday.
