A million-dollar lottery ticket was sold in the territory.

But sorry Yellowknifers – the winning "MaxMillions" Lotto Max draw ticket wasn't purchased in the capital, said to Megan Petricig, a spokesperson for the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

"We can't say an exact location as we don't know at this point," Petricig told Yellowknifer Tuesday.

Petricig said the ticket, which was won on Friday, July 13, would have been purchased sometime between July 6 and July 13.

It's the first MaxMillions win in the territory this year.

So far, Petricig said, the territory's winning ticket-holder has yet to come forward.

A winning MaxMillions ticket was also sold in the Yukon – a first for that territory.

Food for fines served up at library

The Yellowknife Public Library is offering customers that have outstanding fees a chance to remove themselves of that burden.

Food for fines is an initiative that allows individuals to trade in unexpired, non-perishable foods to rid themselves of late fees. Each food item brought in will remove two dollars of fees.

"The library is a great place; don't let your existing fines keep you from coming to the library," states the city's website.

All food items that the library receives will be donated to the Yellowknife food bank. The program runs until July 20.
