Yk 1, Catholic board trustees hold first meetings

Board trustees from both the Yellowknife Education District No. 1 and Yellowknife Catholic Schools held their first meetings this week since the Oct. 15 election.

YK 1 school board trustees John Stephenson, left, and Tina Drew, were named chair and vice-chair respectively on Tuesday. The new board held its first regular meeting since being elected in the Oct. 15 election.

First on the agenda were election of chairs and vice chairs for the upcoming year. At Yk 1, John Stephenson returns as head of the public school board, with Tina Drew as vice-chair. At the Catholic school district, Miles Welsh, will also return as chairperson while Erin Currie will take the role of vice-chair.
