Established in 1945, our newspapers cover 61 communities comprising the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, a 1,400.000 square mile region north of the 60th parallel.
Northern News Services community newspapers
NWT News/North is circulated in all 33 NWT communities and reports on activities throughout the region. It is headquartered in Yellowknife, with other NWT bureaus in Inuvik, Simpson and Hay River and contributing writers from a number of communities . Published weekly on Mondays
Nunavut News is circulated in all 28 Nunavut communities and reports on activities throughout the region. Offices in Iqaluit with correspondents and contributing writers located in a number of Nunavut communities. Main languages are Inuktitut and English, and on occasion, Roman orthography. Published weekly on Mondays.
Kivalliq News is a bilingual Inuktitut and English newspaper serving communities in the Kivalliq region (Central Arctic). The News is based in Rankin Inlet the largest, most central community of the Kivalliq Region. Published Wednesdays.
The Yellowknifer serves the NWT’s capital city of Yellowknife, the central point for the mining industry and the true gateway to much of the North. Yellowknifer is recognized as one of the better community newspapers in Canada in its circulation class and has been a consistent winner in regional and national Better Newspaper competitions. Published twice weekly, Wednesdays and Fridays.
This is the local paper for the Beaufort-Mackenzie Delta region of the Northwest Territories. Communities covered by the Inuvik Drum include Inuvik, Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Arctic Red River, Paulatuk, Tuktoyaktuk, Sachs Harbour & Holman Island. Published weekly on Thursdays.
