Sudden death investigated

The RCMP and the NWT Coroner Service are investigating the sudden death of a 26-year-old male in Hay River in the evening hours of April 23.

According to an RCMP news release, no foul play is suspected.

The NWT Coroner Service ordered a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Cathy Menard, the chief coroner of the NWT, confirmed the death is not suspicious, although the cause of death is unknown.

"If we're not clear on what the cause of death is, we do order a post-mortem examination," she said, noting that it usually takes four to six months to receive the results of such an examination.
