The government also expanded Yellowknife bookings to include those aged 50 and older. In the coming weeks, Yellowknife vaccine clinics will open up to the general population.

Since the NWT began vaccine rollout on Dec. 31, 2020, almost 20,000 doses have been delivered to all 33 communities.

The GNWT encourages residents to check the vaccine schedule frequently to ensure they book second doses within the six week window. The department of Health and Social Services (HSS) advised that vaccine teams will return to communities with the recommended time frame to administer second doses.

“I am pleased that we continue to be able to expand the priority groups eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in the Northwest Territories and I look forward to seeing our territory get to the position where the vaccine is offered to all eligible residents, in all 33 communities,” Julie Green, HSS Minister said in Friday’s news release.

To date, the NWT has received four shipments of the Moderna vaccine with another 16,300 doses anticipated in mid-March.
