A new home decor business called Rime or Reason Home Decor and Gifts is coming to Yellowknife as of Nov. 1.
Renovations are underway, said Trish Raworth, founder and CEO of T.R Digital Marketing. The newcomers are partnered with Corothers Home Hardware to help with the opening of Rime or Reason, which Home Hardware owns.
In fact, the two stores will be right next to each other in the same parking lot on Old Airport Road. Raworth described the store as a boutique experience that will be on the smaller side.
"We're going to try and mirror it almost like a home, so it's going to be able to provide you with inspiration of how pieces will actually look inside of a home," she said.
Those pieces can be things such as pillows, artwork and various knick-knacks, said Raworth. Meanwhile, Home Hardware will still sell the more structural components to a house, like sinks or cabinets, she explained.
Raworth said they're still in the process of staffing.
"We've just hired our manager that will be taking over training," she said.
There's potential to bring over staff from Home Hardware, but nothing's confirmed yet, she added.
When customers stop by Rime or Reason starting in November, there's a good chance they'll notice a squirrel in the logo. That squirrel, Raworth explained, is the original "tenant" of the building.
"They wanted to add a little tribute," she said, "so they added a squirrel into the logo of Rime or Reason."
That squirrel has since been relocated, said pointed out, adding that they're hoping to incorporate the rodent more throughout the store as a tribute. She joked that she's trying to get the critter a stake in the company too.
