Police have arrested Dallas McCauley, who was named by Norman Wells RCMP as the second suspect in the alleged crossbow and stabbing incident in Norman Wells on Sept. 22.
A release from police on Friday stated McCauley was arrested on Sept. 26 and remains in custody.
"A person found to be sheltering McCauley and attempting to mislead police was also arrested for Obstructing a Peace Officer," the statement added.
McCauley has been charged with breaking and entering with intent; aggravated assault; disguised with intent to commit an offence; and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He also already had an outstanding warrant for prior offences, including uttering threats and failure to comply with a probation order.
On Sept. 22, police say they were told about a stabbing that occurred at a residence. When they arrived, they confirmed a person had been the victim of a stabbing.
Further investigation by officers revealed that another person had been both shot with a crossbow and bear-sprayed. Both victims were transported out of the community for treatment, according to the RCMP.
Police had first arrested and charged Teagan Sutherland, 23, with breaking and entering with intent; disguised with intent to commit an offence; uttering threats against a person; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and aggravated assault.
