Three individuals arrested after cocaine bust in Iqaluit

Three Iqaluit residents have been charged with drug and theft-related crimes after RCMP executed a search warrant on Nipisa Street on Dec 20.

Iqaluit RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Nipisa Street, in Iqaluit, on Dec. 20. As a result, police seized approximately 57 grams of powder-cocaine, crack cocaine, hundreds of dollars in cash, cellphones, scales, a pellet-pistol and stolen property that was later identified to have been stolen during a break and enter at a local business.

The Iqaluit RCMP have charged Imoe Papatsie, 40, with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as Kamiga Ipeelie, 58, who has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. Leevee Killiktee, 36, has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, the Mounties stated in a Dec. 31 news release.

All individuals were released from custody with their next scheduled court appearance scheduled for Feb. 6 in Iqaluit.
