Yellowknife RCMP arrest one following robbery

A man is in custody after Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery on May 16. 

Police say they were notified about a man who had robbed a business on Old Airport Road. According to the RCMP, the suspect took merchandise and fled on foot after threatening staff with a knife.

Officers and a a police dog have since located and arrested 36-year-old Frankie Eyakfwo of Yellowknife without further incident. He’s been charged with extortion without a firearm, according to police.

Eyakfwo has appeared before a justice of the peace and is being held in custody. He's scheduled to appear in court on May 21.
