A fire at an unoccupied row house on 248 Mackenzie Road was put out by Inuvik Fire department in the evening of Oct. 1.

Fire trucks line Mackenzie Road in between the turnouts for Spruce Hill Drive after smoke was seen coming out of one of the unoccupied row houses Oct. 1. The fire was quickly put under control and an investigation is ongoing.

A notice from the town of Inuvik says firefighters were called to the site at 7 p.m. after nearby residents noticed smoke coming out of the building.

Five fire apparatus and 14 personnel took part in suppressing the fire and Mackenzie road was closed on either end of Spruce Hill Drive while they secured the scene.

The fire was declared out shortly and firefighters cleared the scene at 8:17 p.m. Inuvik Fire Department has not released a cause of the fire and an investigation is underway.
