An early morning attack that sent a male to hospital with non-life threatening injuries has led to an attempted murder charge against an Inuvik man.

RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the Nova Apartments parking lot at 60 Bompas St. at 6:30 a.m. July 17. Upon arrival, police found evidence of the stabbing and learned a man had been transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.

The individual received medical attention and has been released from hospital.

Police began an investigation and arrested a male suspect. Police say they believe the victim was targeted and are not seeking any other suspected related to the case.

38-year-old Aaron Kay, of Inuvik, is charged with attempted murder. He is being held in custody and will appear in Territorial Court on July 21.

The charge against him has not been proven in court.
