One Hay River resident and two people from B.C. are facing charges after RCMP confiscated 700 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, a firearm, a replica firearm, and more than $17,000 earlier this week.
The police attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation on March 27. The vehicle allegedly sped away down a residential street in Hay River, evading the RCMP. The vehicle was later found crashed into a signpost, with the occupants having fled the scene. A firearm was discovered inside the abandoned vehicle.
The following day, the Mounties received a call reporting a serious injury and a hostage situation at a local residence. Upon arrival, the police arrested three individuals and found a victim with severe injuries who was immediately rushed to the hospital. One of the suspects was identified as the driver from the previous day’s incident.
The RCMP news release, issued Saturday afternoon, stated that while inside the residence, the police noticed signs of drug trafficking. A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of approximately 700 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, a firearm, a replica firearm, and over $17,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from crime.
Trisha Tambour, 40, of Hay River, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. She has been released on court conditions to appear in Hay River territorial court on June 17.
Hindowa Sama, 21, of B.C, is facing charges including aggravated assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, forcible confinement, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. He is being held in jail and is due to appear in court on April 2.
Evan Rochon, 19, also of B.C., is facing charges including aggravated assault, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, five counts of failure to comply with a release order, forcible confinement, two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from a peace officer. He is also being held in custody with a court date scheduled for April 3.
