Team completes invitational swim meet in Whitehorse May 3 to 5

After a long dry spell, the Mackenzie Muskrats are back with a big splash.

The Inuvik based swim club wrapped up their season at the Yukon Invitational Championship Swim Meet in Whitehorse May 3 to 5, but have kept practicing their strokes since then.

"I think I did a really good job," said Caitlyn Wright. "I tried my best and I worked very hard to get there."

"I did pretty good," said Mairy Devlin. "I'm pretty excited for more swim meets."

Not only did the Muskrats join the international tournament, a few even took home medals for aggregate.

Both Ophilia Dager and AJ Letendre placed third in aggregate for the most points in their overall performance.

"I think I did pretty good," said Winnie Jenks. "I got into a few finals and had a bunch of personal bests."

"I improved a lot and had lots of fun," said Sierra Scheiwiller. "I'm looking forward to learning more."

No one left the meet empty handed, however. All swimmers were able to achieve personal bests and took home ribbons for their efforts.

Many said they were happy just to be able to get back in the water and swim.

"I think I did really good," said Katya Bocharova. "I improved a lot."

"I improved, I had fun," said Ivan Raska. "I got to see other kids swim and have fun. It was amazing."

The team will wrap up their season June 1.
