Great Northern Arts Festival announces annual general meeting
Want to get involved in Inuvik's most famous festival?
The Great Northern Arts Festival is hosting its annual general meeting on Oct. 22 at the Midnight Sun Complex in the Sundog Room. Snacks and refreshments will be served as the board takes feedback, elects new members to positions and plans the festival for next year. The meeting runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and drop-ins are welcome, or you can email gnaf@inuvik.ca to reach out ahead of time.
On the land healing retreat for women
The Inuvik Native Band and Arctic Youth Development Agency (AYDA) are partnering to host a women's On the Land healing retreat set for Sept. 27 to 29. The retreat will involve a group trip to gather berries, spruce gum and Labrador tea. The opening day will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and then 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Inuvik Bootcamp is back
Inuvik Bootcamp is back and ready rock.
The biweekly workout group resumed their evening hour of high intensity interval training on Sept. 24. The group is trying a new time, now at 5:30 p.m. instead of the historical 7 p.m., and are charging a drop-in fee of $8 at the door or $60 for a 10-class punch-pass. Workouts are Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Midnight Sun Complex.
Wilderness First Aid and rescue training class being offered
An upcoming series of classes in Wilderness First Aid and Rescue training are available for those interested.
Offered by Chako Wilderness Adventure and Rescue Training, the Wilderness Medical Association Internation certified program includes classes in Wilderness Advanced First Aid and Wilderness First Responder. Four days of school is $800 and eight days is $1,500. Classes will be held at the Inuvik Curling Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Nov. 19 to 22 and Nov. 25 to 28.
