City of Yellowknife employees under Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local X0345 have reached a tentative agreement with the municipality that will provide an 11.25 per cent wage increase over four years.

If ratified by the parties, the deal will be in effect until Dec. 31, 2027. The union will ask its affected members to vote on the proposed terms this week. It will then go to mayor and council for review.

Broken down by year, there's a 2.25 per cent wage increase retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024. That's followed by a three per cent increase on the first calendar day of 2025, 2026 and 2027.

The tentative agreement also includes additions to leave and allowance provisions with respect to rest periods, casual leave, Indigenous cultural leave, parental leave, birth and adoption leave and personal safety footwear.

Separate negotiations remain in progress with the Municipal Enforcement Division and the Yellowknife Fire Division, which are also represented by PSAC.
