Hay River RCMP say they have seized a “large quantity” of suspected fentanyl and crack-cocaine, consistent with trafficking.

The seizure occurred in conjunction with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the community on March 15. It was believed that stolen property was being sold from that location.

Numerous articles of stolen property were located at the residence and confiscated, according to police.

The Mounties did not indicate the quantities of drugs in question.

As a result of the investigation, Destiny Smallgeese, 21, and John Antoine, 34, have both been charged with possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000).

Two more individuals, Markara Bun, 31, and Savy You, 38, of Ontario are both charged with possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Smallgeese and You were released on court condition and are scheduled to appear in Hay River Territorial Court on May 13.

Bun appeared before a justice of the peace and was kept in custody.

Antoine is due to appear in Hay River Territorial Court on April 29.

Anyone who has information about this matter is asked to contact the Hay River RCMP at (867) 874-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.nwtnu.crimestoppersweb.com. In the event of an emergency call, 911.
