A search and rescue operation has been activated by Inuvik RCMP after a man has gone missing near the boat launch.
RCMP receievd a call at 4:20 a.m., Sept. 24 regarding the missing person. Upon arriving at the boat launch alongside Inuvik Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, police learned a 29-year-old man had gone into the water and disappeared.
A woman was located nearby who is associated with the missing persons file. She received medical attention from EMS.
RCMP are searching on both land and water with multiple agencies, including a helicopter. Inuvik Search and Rescue Volunteers are also on duty searching for the man.
The identity of the missing male has not been released.
