All Iqaluit residents on piped water service will be without water on Sept. 1, from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while municipal crews replace valves that will make future pipe repairs more manageable, according to the city.

Residents who are on trucked water service will not receive any deliveries during the shutdown.

When taps are flowing again, a boil water advisory will be in place for everyone except those who get their water by truck.

All water used for consumption and dental hygiene should be boiled for a full minute, according to the city.

It’s expected that the boil water advisory will be lifted the following week.

Before the water shutdown occurs on Sept. 1, the municipality encourages residents to have a supply of water in advance.
