Woman charged following alleged double stabbing in Inuvik

A woman in Inuvik is facing two counts of aggravated assault and a pair of counts of assault with a weapon after an apparent double stabbing earlier this week.

During the early morning hours of Monday, March 18, Inuvik RCMP were called to an apartment building, where two individuals in a residence had suffered stab wounds.

Both individuals were transported to Inuvik Hospital by emergency medical personnel for treatment.

A female suspect located at the scene was arrested and detained, the RCMP stated in a Wednesday evening news release.

One male victim has since been released from hospital while the second male victim was medevaced to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife for further medical treatment.

The female suspect, who was not identified by police in the news release, has been held in custody until her next court appearance, which is scheduled for April 2.
