Iqaluit RCMP have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man in Iqaluit following an apparent stabbing in the capital city.

Police responded to a residence in the 1600 block on Thursday. Paramedics were already on scene, attending to a wounded man who was then taken to Qikiqtani General Hospital by ambulance for further treatment. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the RCMP.

Ohaituk Adam Emikotailuk of Iqaluit has been charged with aggravated assault. He appeared before a justice of the peace on Friday afternoon, but the matter was adjourned to Monday for a bail hearing. Emikotailuk remains in custody until then.
