Canadian Junior Rangers from across the Kivalliq will gather in Rankin Inlet for a regional marksmanship selection competition on April 7-8.
The top individual and team awards will be announced on April 8 as part of determining the winning team to represent Nunavut at a national competition in St. Catherine’s, Ont., from May 4-6.

The majority of the Kivalliq region was battered by a four-day blizzard this past week that had schools closed, government offices shutdown, and flight passengers stranded across the region and in Winnipeg.
Wings gusting up to 80 kilometres an hour were common across the region during the storm.
GN announces major funding
Kivalliq/Nunavut
The Government of Nunavut (GN) and the federal government announced the signing of a bilateral agreement that will provide more than $566 million over the next decade in federal funding dedicated to infrastructure projects under the Investing in Canada plan.
The announcement was made on March 28 by Nunavut Minister of Community and Government Services Lorne Kusugak and federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Amarjeet Sohi.
The projects supported through this agreement will be cost-shared with the territorial government, municipalities and other partners.
The Government of Canada is providing up to 75 per cent of eligible expenditures for projects in the territories and for projects with indigenous partners.
To access this funding, the GN will contribute more than $188 million to meet its 25 per cent cost sharing requirements, bringing the total impact of this agreement to more than $754 million in direct infrastructure spending for Nunavut.
The new funding will see the Government of Canada make unprecedented investments in small and rural communities, green infrastructure, and recreational and cultural infrastructure.
Also included in this funding is $175 million under the Arctic Energy Fund that will address energy security in the territories.
Arviat takes championship

Arviat nipped Tikiragiuk 6-5 in overtime to claim the annual Johnny Kook Memorial (JKM) four-on-four tournament in Whale Cove on March 25.
Also competing in the JKM senior men's hockey event were Rankin Inlet and the Whale Cove North Stars.
