Residents of Baker Lake should boil water for consumption for at least one minute, the Department of Health advises.

The Department of Health is recommending that the community boil water for at least one minute when using it for:

• drinking
• preparing infant formulas
• preparing juices and ice cubes
• washing fruits and vegetables
• cooking
• brushing teeth

It’s not necessary to boil water used for other purposes.

Water can be boiled either in a pot or kettle on a stove or an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off, according to the Department of Health.
