Community radio revival in Taloyoak

The Hamlet of Taloyoak recently assisted with the purchase of new equipment to get the community's radio station up and running again.

"People seem to be happy about it," Mayor Simon Qingnaqtuq said.

There are a few paid radio staff who make announcements at noon and 5 p.m. daily from the old hamlet building.

The municipality is seeking residents to sign up for a radio committee that will oversee the broadcasting service after hamlet financial support ceases in six months, Qingnaqtuq said.

"They'll be responsible to find their own funding," the mayor said of the radio committee's future plight.
