Mark Sept. 5 and Sept. 8 on your calendar. Those are the dates of the "pre-opening" and official grand opening for the Kenojuak Ashevak Cultural Centre and Print Shop. There will be two such occasions because the latter date will involve so many guests from the territorial government, the federal government, Inuit organizations and private donors that there wouldn't be room for community members, said John Hussey, Cape Dorset's senior administrative officer.
So the hamlet has set Sept. 5 for a "pre-opening" to give local residents a chance to get a sneak peek at the newly-constructed $10.2-million facility devoted to the arts.
Louisa Parr has been hired as the manager of the cultural centre.
