The RCMP responded to a report of a deceased male on an Arviat roadway in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
The initial investigation by the police -- started shortly after 3 a.m. -- revealed that the victim was run over by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene. The RCMP located a driver shortly thereafter who they consider a suspect.
On July 25, 2018 at approximately 3:10 a.m. the Arviat RCMP received a complaint regarding a deceased male on a roadway in the community. An immediate patrol was made by the Arviat RCMP.
The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the V Division Major Crimes Unit, D Division (Manitoba) traffic analysts and the Nunavut Coroner’s Office.
The police say further information will be provided once it is available.
