The Department of Family Services has increased rates paid to foster parents. Below are the new daily rates, by community, based on the cost of living:

Arviat, Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet: $58

Arctic Bay, Baker Lake, Cambridge Bay, Chesterfield
Inlet, Gjoa Haven, Sanirajak, Igloolik, Kugluktuk, Naujaat,
Whale Cove: $60

Kinngait, Kimmirut, Pangnirtung, Sanikiluaq,
Taloyoak: $62

Clyde River, Coral Harbour, Grise Fiord, Kugaaruk,
Pond Inlet, Qikiqtarjuaq, Resolute Bay: $65

These payments are intended to assist in the costs of child rearing such as food, clothing, personal care and other general household costs.
