GN reducing fuel costs by nine cents in Iqaluit; by four cents in other communities

Retail gasoline and diesel prices will drop by nine cents per litre in Iqaluit and by four cents per litre in all other Nunavut communities as of Monday, the GN announced Friday.

The additional price reduction in Iqaluit is due to the higher cost compared to other communities, according to a GN press release.

The decrease in fuel prices is in accordance with crude market rates falling in 2019, allowing the territorial government to capitalize on prices that were 11 to 15 per cent lower than in 2018, the GN stated.

Nunavut continues to have among the lowest prices for fuel in Canada, the government news release added.
