A Baker Lake man has died following a police chase in that community.

Baker Lake RCMP received a call regarding a possible impaired driver at approximately 5:15 p.m. Oct. 11, according to a news release.

“Upon police arrival, the driver, identified as a 23-year-old male, ran from the vehicle, stole an ATV and was involved in a single motor vehicle collision,” stated Cpl. Henry Coman.

“The driver was transported to the health centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries.”

The Ottawa Police Service, in conjunction with Nunavut’s chief coroner’s office, is investigating the death as it occurred during an interaction with RCMP.
