A youth is in stable condition after being medevaced following a collision with an RCMP vehicle on Friday evening.

The youth was sliding down a hill and crossed a road, colliding with a police vehicle that was passing by on a routine patrol at approximately 8:22 p.m., according to a press release issued by the Mounties on Saturday afternoon.

The RCMP is sending officers from Iqaluit to Pond Inlet to investigate the incident.

The youth is in the care of a parent while recovering at a medical facility, the police added.
