Following a lengthy investigation, Nunavut RCMP’s Major Crime Unit laid a charge of murder against a Kugluktuk resident in relation to the April 2017 death of a 46-year-old woman from the community.

A publication ban prohibits media from naming the accused, who is due to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit on Feb. 5.

In a separate incident, the RCMP and the Chief Coroner’s Office are looking into the sudden death of a 31-year-old woman who was found unresponsive in a Kugluktuk residence on Jan. 29. An autopsy has been ordered.
