Sajjan raises flag, bestows honours

Surrounded by an Inuit workforce, Minister of National Defence Harjit Singh Sajjan raises the flags of Nunavut and Canada at the Nanisivik Naval Facility near Arctic Bay Aug. 15.

The minister's agenda included bestowing honours on senior cadet Sgt. Sharon Pauloosie and commanding officer 2Lt. Adrian Dzioba, who both received the minister's coin of honour.

"They (the minister and his entourage) were all driven to the Nanisivik Naval Facility for a quick tour. The facility is currently under construction, though nearing completion in about a year," stated Dzioba by e-mail.

There, the minister presented the Pauloosie and Dzioba with coins.

Sajjan raised the Nunavut and Canadian flags at the facility surrounded by the Inuit workforce, said Dzioba, before heading out to Winnipeg aboard a Hercules in the early afternoon.
