The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) in Cambridge Bay devised the TikTok challenge, inviting Nunavummiut to submit videos based on an Inuit cultural theme.

A total of 162 videos were entered in the competition, although 41 of them were not hashtagged properly.

Members of MYAC will announce the contest winners on Sunday after 5 p.m. First prize is $3,000. The second-place finisher will collect $2,000 and $1,500 will go to the creator of the third-place video.  The prize money came from numerous municipalities across Nunavut. The GN's Quality of Life Secretariat will provide matching funds to the communities where the top three finishers reside, and that money will be put toward youth programming in those respective communities.
As of Tuesday, #Nunavutchallenge had 99,600 views and #Tiktoknunavut had 73,600 views.
