A 52-year-old Iqaluit woman faces an aggravated assault charge following an incident involving a man on Wednesday.

RCMP responded to a disturbance in the 500 block area of Iqaluit and found a man “in distress,” requiring medical attention. He was transported to Qikiqtani General Hospital by ambulance. He’s reportedly in stable condition.

In addition to the aggravated assault charge, the woman has also been charged with violating a court condition. She appeared before a justice of the peace on Thursday afternoon and she will remain behind bars until her next court appearance in the Nunavut Court of Justice on May 7, according to the police.
