Inuvik RCMP are seeking the public's help in identifying and  locating an alleged armed robber.

After receiving a call for service at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, police attended the Corner Store in Inuvik, an RCMP news release stated Wednesday.

An employee told police a man entered the convenience store and demanded cash while brandishing a knife.

The clerk did not hand over any money, but police say the suspect fled the store with stolen goods.

The suspect was last seen running eastward on Kingmingya Rd.

RCMP are imploring anyone with information related to the incident to come forward, as they believe there may have been customers in the store at the time of the alleged robbery attempt.

“RCMP believe person, or persons, may have seen something suspicious, or may have noticed someone with items that would have been available at the Corner Store. We are asking the residents of Inuvik to report any suspicious or unusual activity” RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon stated in the release.

Police say there is no immediate threat to the public.

Anyone who may have observed suspicious or unusual behaviour in this area at the approximate time is encouraged to contact Inuvik RCMP at 867-777-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, nwtnutips.com, (click on "submit a web tip") or text: nwtnutips to 274637.
