Applications for student financial assistance (SFA) for NWT residents pursuing post-secondary education are due at the end of June.
Students applying for financial assistance for full-time post-secondary studies starting between Aug. 16 and Sept. 30 have until June 30 to submit their applications, according to the Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE).
If their academic year begins in January, the deadline is Oct. 31.
Due to physical distancing concerns during the Covid-19 pandemic, ECE has made efforts to reduce the need for in-person interactions, and after students submit their applications they can receive further assistance over the phone, said ECE spokesperson Jacqueline McKinnon.
"SFA funding continued for the remainder of all students’ winter semesters, and for those repaying loans, the payment deferral remains in place until the end of September 2020, with no interest accrued during this time," McKinnon stated.
