It is hoped that providing those services to residents in one location will improve patient care in the community.

"By improving the services provided to residents, as well as how they can access these services, the Government of the Northwest Territories is taking action on community wellness," said Health and Social Services Minister Glen Abernethy is a news release. "This brand-new facility will meet the health care needs of residents in Fort Resolution for years to come and is part of our commitment to best health, best care for a better future."

Abernethy was in Fort Resolution for the opening.

Tu Nedhe-Wiilideh MLA Tom Beaulieu congratulated the community for its new centre.

"This brand-new facility will be a one-stop location for residents who require health and wellness support," Beaulieu said in a news release.

The design and construction budget for the project was $13.2 million.

Construction started in March of 2016.

The previous health centre in Fort Resolution was 44 years old.
