RCMP

One woman is dead after a fire broke out in Behchoko over the weekend, say RCMP.

The female victim, who has not yet been identified, was found inside a shed early Saturday morning after the Behchoko Fire Department responded to a blaze on a residential property around 1:20 a.m.

When RCMP officers arrived on scene to assist firefighters, the structure was "fully engulfed in flames," stated a news release from Mounties.

"RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in reporting any female person who may not be accounted for within their friends, relatives and associates," stated the news release.

News/North is awaiting a response from both the NWT Coroner Service and Northwest Territories Office of the Fire Marshal - two agencies working with RCMP to investigate the fatal fire.
