Fort Liard homicide suspect appears in court; victim identified

A woman charged with second-degree murder in connection with the weekend death of a 34-year-old man in Fort Liard made a brief court appearance in Yellowknife Wednesday morning.

Selena Lomen, 21, hung her head, looking sullen as she sat in NWT territorial court's prisoner's booth.

Lomen was arrested and charged after Fort Liard RCMP located a deceased man at a Birch Road residence in the early hours of Sunday, Oct. 28.

Court records identify the victim as Danny Klondike.

A publication ban initially prohibited Klondike's identity from being published, but that ban was lifted Wednesday at the request of Crown prosecutor Alex Godfrey.

Lomen's lawyer, Peter Harte, told the court he's waiting to receive disclosure - information and details about a case - before moving forward.

Lomen will appear in territorial court via video on Dec. 18.
