The NWT Coroner Service is continuing to investigate the death of 52-year-old Floyd Diamond’C, found deceased earlier this month near Fort Liard.

Diamond’C’s body was located in Bear Creek on May 8 by a family member on their way to visit him at a cabin.

He had last been seen in Fort Liard on April 24.

Despite “extensive post-mortem animal scavenging” of the body, NWT Coroner Service has determined a bear attack was not the cause of Diamond’C’s death, according to a press release issued by the office on May 29.

The territory’s coroner service is awaiting the final autopsy results.

The NWT Coroner Service is continuing to probe the death alongside RCMP and Environmental and Natural Resources.

The NWT Coroner Service extends condolences to Diamond’C’s family and friends.
