Fort Smith man named in armed barricade arrest

RCMP have named Bradley James Hunter of Fort Smith as the arrested man in last week's armed standoff.

Last Thursday, Fort Smith responded to calls at a residence in the community that Hunter had barricaded himself inside the home. At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, the man was arrested without incident, police say.

Hunter has been charged with uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm. He was scheduled to appear in territorial court in Yellowknife on Friday.

The incident was isolated and there is no threat to the community, states the news release.
