Yellowknife will host the 12th International Kimberlite Conference in 2021, according to the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment. The bid was a collaboration between the GNWT, the city of Yellowknife and NWT Tourism, according to a news release from the department. This will be the second time the conference has been held in Canada since its start in 1973. The department expects around 500 delegates to attend, generating about $1 million for the local economy.
