In a Facebook post on March 20, Semmler wrote that she was due to return next Monday and would be in recovery for several weeks.

"Well this week has been has not been what I had planned for my schedule," she wrote. "I was supposed to go home have the weekend off then meet with the Minister Wawzonek during her visit to Inuvik that started on Monday for the week."

Semmler added her constituency assistant Loretta Rogers would be able to handle any inquiries and asked her constituents to contact her if they have any needs.

She also added to please contact the office by phone or email and not use Facebook, as the office only checks messages once in a while. The office number is 678-2429 and email is loretta_rogers@ntassembly.ca

Semmler added she thanked everyone for their understanding. She did not state the reason for the emergency surgery.
